Kuksa From The Vault #1
Kuksa From The Vault #1
I’ve decided to release some kuksas from the vault! These are cups that meant a lot to me along my journey carving and designing drinking vessels during my career as a carver.
If I’ve kept one it must be one that was exceptional enough at the time to make me hold onto it which is rare for me as I always let my favorite carvings go as part of my chase.
This was carved from a crook, or bent portion of where the branch meets the tree and this cup is extremely strong. Showing off one year camping I used it to drive tent spikes which you can see a small dent or two on the bottom of the cup! But it’s just a little cosmetic mark, think of it as a tattoo. It’s all part of the story!
These are story vessels and this one carries many. Whoever decides to take it home will I hope bring more stories for it to carry into the future.
Black birch is a harder wood which leaves you with a nice surface shine under the tool marks which is a pleasure to hold while you sip from it.
