This mask is made of hickory stained and ebonized. Mixed medium of iron nails, leather, brass and wood. Bound in leather with an X across his head as a protection symbol and a fine dark brown leather cord so this talisman can be worn around the neck.

Carving wood that you put your spirit into is a pretty powerful thing. Some of these old carved objects were meant to be worn as protection symbols, for luck, and good fortune. Some carvings are made to ward off evil spirits or bad juju. Some were made to heal and there were even amulets to be worn that have been protecting their dreams while they sleep.So far the people I have carved them for have told me some interesting things about them.
