Shrink pots blew my mind when I first started making them. They utilize the natural reaction wood has as it dries - it shrinks!

You hollow the wet form, carve a groove along the inside for a dry shaped disk to fit into. If done right you get a satisfying “pop” and the vessel is airtight as it dries. If you get it wrong it splits in half and then you’re left with firewood. 

They can only be made with green wood which I love about them. They’re great for storing dry goods, herbs and spices, jewelry and other precious things. 

The lid is made of three pieces - the top, the peg, and a little wedge that seals the deal. Fits nice and tight and I especially love using these in the kitchen.
